He awaits a big step towards employers from the union in the third round. However, the fronts are hardened: IG Metall demands seven percent more money nationwide for 3.9 million employees for one year, while employers only offer two increases of 1.7 and 1.9 percent over 27 months - the first stage only in July 2025.
