New protection for women: 5.6 million euros for Böblingen and Rottweil!

A huge step in the fight against domestic violence: The Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Integration in Baden-Württemberg is investing a whopping 5.6 million euros in the construction of two new women's and child protection houses! These facilities will be created in the districts of Böblingen and Rottweil and offer urgently needed, barrier -free protective places for up to 28 women and their children. The aim is to effectively combat violence against women and to provide the victims the best possible support.

"Violence against women and children is a problem for society as a whole. Too often people are silent and looked away," said State Secretary Dr. Ute Leidig on Thursday in Stuttgart. In an area like Baden-Württemberg, it is crucial that all women, regardless of their place of residence, have access to protection. The new protective places are an answer to the years of efforts by the Böblingen and Rottweil districts, which have so far not been taken into account as part of the Federal Investitution Program.

important support for the regions

In the district of Böblingen, around 3.8 million euros flow into the construction of a shelter with 16 flexible, barrier -free residential units. Depending on the number of children, between 16 and 25 people can find protection. Particularly noteworthy is the apartment structure, which also enables women with older sons. In the Rottweil district, the St. Franziskus Foundation receives 1.79 million euros for a new shelter with twelve barrier -free places. Both facilities should be completed by 2027.

This initiative is not only a financial subsidy, but also a strong sign of the state government, which thus implements the Istanbul Convention to combat violence against women. In Baden-Württemberg there are currently 44 women's and child protection houses with a total of 876 places that represent an important point of contact for women affected by violence.
