Böblingen shines in the sound: Hungarian pianist festival enthusiastically!
Böblingen, Deutschland - The 27th International Pianist Festival Böblingen was officially opened on Friday, January 10, 2025. The first artist was the 27-year-old Hungarian pianist Mihály Berecz, who received stormy applause for his impressive performance. In his speech, the initiator and organizer of the festival, Ulrich Köppen, presented the cooperation with renowned institutions such as the International Beethoven competition in Vienna and the Concours Géza Anda Zurich. These partnerships underline the importance of the festival in the international music world.
This year the festival is on the genre piano cycle. The cooperation with the Sindelfingen piano specialist Piano Hölzle enabled the use of a valuable Bösendorfer wing, model "Vienna Concert", the value of which is over 200,000 euros. The wing was loaned for the festival for four weeks, which caused Berecz to describe the wing as "luxurious". Around 250 visitors were present at his concert.
concert program and performance
In his concert, Mihály Berecz performed a varied program that included works by Haydn, Debussy, Chopin and Bartók. Bartók's focus on Hungarian farmers' songs, which are described as challenging and avant -garde, in particular. The sonata in F major of Haydn was interpreted light-footed and precisely. Debussy's “Six Études, Premier Livre” places high technical requirements and is demanding in terms of hearing. The conclusion was Chopin's "Sonata B minor, op. 35", which is primarily known for her impressive funeral march. After the concert, Berecz was happy about stormy applause and two encores.
Mihály Berecz, an emerging pianist, has already received some significant awards, including the Liszt-Bartók Prize at the Géza Anda competition in 2021 and the first prize at the Kissinger Piano Olympus 2023. Berecz will travel directly to Madrid on Saturday morning, such as Flagey reported.
The International Pianist Festival Böblingen promises exciting other events in the coming weeks and talented pianists from all over the world.
