New bike path between Überlingen and Owingen: safe and environmentally friendly!
big news for cyclists! A new bike path between Owingen and Überlingen-Bambergen was opened in the picturesque Bodenseekreis. The 2.3 kilometer -long gravel path, which has now been extended to a wider asphalt area of 3.50 meters, promises a safe and pleasant journey away from hectic road traffic. This initiative is another step to improve the network of cycle paths in the region and ensures that Radler can cycle from Üwingen to Owingen in the future.
The total costs for this important project amount to around three million euros, with half of this sum covered by funding from the country. The rest is taken over by the district, the city and the municipality. At the symbolic opening on October 31, District Administrator Luca Wilhelm Prayon, Mayor Jan Zeitler and Mayor Henrik Wengert emphasized the importance of the bike path for traffic safety. The new bike path meets the growing need for safe traffic routes for work, school, relaxation and tourism and is a real profit for all cyclists!
environmental protection and traffic policy
It is particularly noteworthy that 2,800 tons of recycled material were used in the construction of the bike path. This shows the commitment of the district to pursue its climate and transport policy goals. In the long term, the district strives for 22 percent of all ways to be covered by bike. In order to achieve this goal, well -developed paths and connections are essential - and this new bike path is an important component in this way!
