Young people shape the future: district youth conference in Markdorf!

In Markdorf, around a hundred young people gather on Thursday to discuss their political ideas and demands. Under the motto "Our goals. Our future. Our responsibility", the first district youth conference of the Bodenseekreis takes place, in which the newly founded district youth council is presented as a political body. This unique youth parliament at the district level, which was launched last December, is a pioneer in all of Baden-Württemberg.

The conference is organized by the 18 youth district councils who manage the day and invite students from all over the district to bring their concerns. Topics such as school, leisure, local transport and climate are on the agenda. In small groups, the young people will work out and prioritize their ideas while they have the opportunity to speak directly to district councils and other decision -makers.

First district youth council in the country: Young people demand changes

The Bodenseekreis is the first district in Baden-Württemberg, which has set up a district youth council. The youth councils, between 14 and 19 years old, bring their concerns from schools and existing youth councilors. A central concern is the improvement of train connections to Friedrichshafen-Ost, where many schools are. "Pupils from Meckenbeuren have to change at the Stadtbahnhof, which is often cumbersome," explains 15-year-old Jonathan Brenner. The demand for a stop at the Eastern train station should be included in the new local transport plan.

With an annual budget of 5,000 euros, the district youth council has the opportunity to make decisions independently and actively work for the interests of young people. The conference takes place for the third time, and the young people are determined to raise their voice in politics and to make changes.
