Sipplingen municipal council: Hot discussions about the renovation of halls and taxes!
At the last meeting of the Sipplingen municipal council this year there are heated discussions. There are no fewer than 14 points on the agenda, all of which treat explosive topics. Among other things, the controversial increase in the tourist tax, the reform of property tax and increasing parking fees is debated. The challenge is that these points have already been postponed and now everyone can be mastered at once. The situation is additionally burdened by the increased costs for the renovation of the gymnasium and festival hall. The municipality of Sipplingen now has a share of 2.079 million euros, which leads to violent discussions about the need for this renovation, such as Südkurier reported.
The citizens are concerned and ask whether the renovation is really necessary or whether minor repairs would not be sufficient. Mayor Oliver Gortat already had a conversation with the club chairman, but the exchange was not very fertile because they had spoken out against further debt. In a secret meeting with an architecture office, new savings potential and calculations were created, but the results of which were kept under closure until the council meeting. The trade association said that all of this reveals the appearance of a conscious information from information in order to avoid criticism.
cultural redesign despite crises
At the same time, Sipplingen blooms in a new social and cultural shine. Despite the challenges of Corona pandemic, the village has changed decisively. The cultural association, which has been in discussions since 2017, was politically decided in 2021. In June 2023, the new "Kulturwerk am See" was inaugurated, which plays a central role in the cultural revitalization, as social life begins to bloom again through numerous cultural events: from live music on the lake to a Denkerin club that offers space for open discussions. It turns out that the crisis can also be an opportunity for innovative solutions and a stronger community. Sipplingen is now rolling out the red carpet for a new cultural chapter, while at the same time controversy is being debated on local financial decisions.
