In his speech, Prayon emphasized the importance of the celebration for reunification and recalled the dark times of German-German history. He pointed out that the honest look of friends was essential, especially in the current political situation. District Administrator Krzysztof Smela explained in his speech how the Poles perceive the German reunification. His warm greeting was translated by Magdalena Linnig from the German-Polish circle of friends, which also performed Smela's memories of the 25-year partnership of the two counties.
Smela said that reunification had led to different opinions, especially with regard to the Polish border and Germany's influence in Europe. In the meantime, however, largely agreement has been reached that reunification was advantageous for Poland. Germany contributed to the EU integration of Poland and thus also to the transition to the market economy. Today Germany is not only the most important trading partner, but also an important investor in the Polish economy.
Economic relationships have created new opportunities, especially for the metal and steel industry in Tschenstochau. Smela emphasized that the end of the partnership with the Bodenseekreis was a decisive decision for the district of Tschenstochau, and that the experiences gained there were invaluable value. Despite existing challenges in the relationship between Germany and Poland, he sees the partnership as blooming and future -oriented.
A significant moment of the evening was the presentation of an order from the Ukrainian partner group Kolomyia to the former district administrator Lothar Wölfle. Anna Dziewior gave him this award as a thank you for the financial contribution of the Lake Constance district, which was made after the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. This gesture underlines the close connection and solidarity between the partner country circles.
The evening ended with lively conversations in which the guests had the opportunity to share their thoughts and perspectives. The event promoted the exchange and strengthened the ties between those present and the districts involved. In times of geopolitical tensions, such as Russian aggression against Ukraine, the importance of such partnerships and the cohesion within NATO becomes all the more clear.
