The week of crime: shopiezes, arguments and burglaries!

A current wave of incidents shapes the police news situation in the Lake Constance district. The authorities report several interesting criminal activities that include both shoplifting and traffic accidents.

In Friedrichshafen, a 20-year-old was arrested after he was suspected of having stolen several high-quality clothing and perfume from a shop. An attentive employee had seen the man leaving the business and alerted the police when he tried to flee the stolen goods. Interestingly, it is believed that the same perpetrator could also be responsible for numerous sunglasses in Ravensburg. The investigation for this is still ongoing.

Another incident in Friedrichshafen

A serious incident occurred in Tettnang, where a 76-year-old pedestrian was hit by a 69-year-old Dacia driver when crossing a pedestrian crossing. The senior suffered minor injuries during the collision and had to be treated in the hospital, while uninvolved traffic was not damaged.

in Ittendorf there was an attempted burglary to a restaurant, which, however, remained without the stolen. The perpetrator damaged a window and the front door before he fled. The Markdorf police are now looking for witnesses who can provide information about this incident.

Another series of burglaries took place in several towns on Thursday night. Unknowns penetrate into a country courtyard in Urzenreute and steal cash, while experiments were also made in two other places without the theft. The police ask for relevant information from residents.

These incidents are part of a major problem that led to an increase in theft cases in Germany last year, as the crime statistics show. A total of around 1.8 million thefts were registered in 2022, which corresponds to an increase of 20 percent compared to the previous year.

The increasing willingness to communicate by the police and the involvement of the public could make a decisive contribution to changing the dynamics of these offenses. In particular, the high degree of clarification in shoplifting, which reaches 89.8 percent, shows that a more watchful society can represent a step in the right direction.
