Farewell to OB Brand: A captain leaves the town hall with applause!

In the Graf-Zeppelin-Haus in Friedrichshafen, the mood was electrifying! Shortly after 6 p.m., hundreds of people crowded to say goodbye to their long -time mayor Andreas Brand. The official celebration began at 7 p.m., as the first mayor Fabian Müller welcomed the prominent guest list, which included District Administrator Luca Prayon, Wilhelm Herzog of Württemberg and President Klaus Tappeser.

After 15 years in office, Brand looked back on an impressive balance. "He was always close to the citizens," praised Müller and emphasized that Brand could reduce urban debt from 53 million to 20 million euros. Under his leadership, 300 new apartments were built, a sports pool opened and numerous kindergartens and new halls were built. A swipe towards Tappeser ensured laughter: "The ZF-Arena still has to be demolished, but that depends on them!"

Special honors and moving words

The honors for brand were not overlooked: the local council awarded him the city's honorary ring, the second highest award. In his farewell speech, Brand also appealed to delicate topics, such as the suicide of a senior physician at the clinic, who brought him a lot of criticism. "We tried to act fact -based," he said, emphasizing the challenges during his term. The evening ended with standing ovations and the Frank-Sinatra hit "My Way" that fire had wanted. An emotional farewell to a man who shaped the city!
