Biberach: Fee stability in danger - increase will soon be threatened!
In the Biberach district, the garbage fees have not been raised for 20 years, which represents a remarkable handling of local finances. District Administrator Mario Glaser emphasized at the session of the waste management company that many counties were forced to increase their fees, while Biberach managed to remain stable. However, there are already forecasts that in the next two to three years in the Biberacher district, rising garbage fees can also be expected.
The manager Frank Förster explained that the 20th fee increase would be not possible next year. In fact, a reduction in fees by 12 percent in 2013 could even be enforced before the return on the previous sentence took place in 2021. Such fluctuations are not uncommon, and they illustrate the dependence on different factors such as the forest market price for paper, which has varied extremely in recent years.
planned price increases
According to current calculations by the waste management company (AWB), a significant increase in costs is forecast for 2025. The estimates show an increase of around 13 million euros, which results in a discrepancy of 1.5 million euros between expenses and income. These rashes illustrate that pricing policy could not remain stable in the next few years, especially with an increasing budget and trade drop of three percent, to which the growing population and the changed consumption behavior also contribute.
For the coming year, an impressive 44 percent will be expected to increase the disposal costs compared to the previous year. Important influencing factors are the increasing disposal fees, the costs of increased raw materials and new environmental protection requirements.
"This also has an impact on the fee stability and agreed with us," said District Administrator Glaser. However, those responsible continue to deal with the question of how future costs can be found. Increased personnel costs play a role here that burden the AWB an additional 100,000 euros per year.
new developments in waste management
With regard to waste disposal in Biberach, the capacity commitment of the Zweckverband TAD is also important for 2025. The AWB can fall back on a contingent of 34,155 tons in its garbage heater. This makes the disposal of household and bulky waste much easier and can lead to lower costs.
Another positive sign is the introduction of a bread system for organic waste. Here, more than 10,000 free starter sets have already been distributed, which increases the participation in this system to over 10 percent and exemplifies the efforts of more effective waste management.
In the meeting of the company committee, it was unanimously decided to leave the fees for private households and commercial waste at the current status. Nevertheless, the last word in this matter is expected from the district council, which will decide on October 25th.
All of these points show that long -term fees in the Biberach district is not only a permanent success, but also has to withstand the challenges of the future. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how the factors mentioned will specifically affect the fees, since many variables are involved.
