The Sana Kliniken Landkreis Biberach face huge challenges! In an insightful meeting of the Biberach district council, Beate Jörißen, the managing director, informed about the concerns that the healthcare sector plagues: rising operating costs, lack of personnel and an impending hospital reform. "The course is set for a structural change in the German hospital system," she said optimistically. The new central clinic with its 370 beds, which was opened in 2021, should also secure health care in the district in the future.

But the worries are tangible: in 2024 a persistent deficit of up to two million euros will be forecast! "For the first time we will see a negative annual result," confirmed Jörißen and referred to the incessantly increasing costs that hardly offer any space for adjustments. The Biberacher Hospital, which rely on over 18,900 inpatient cases for 2024, is fighting the general trend of a nationwide clinic deficit of around 900 million euros

against the bureaucracy! The Sana Clinic Biberach has continuously expanded its range of services since 2013, including a modern neurology center and innovative offers such as a midwifery hall. Through digital systems for patient management and treatment documentation, funded by the Hospital Future Act, the clinic wants to relieve medical personnel from bureaucratic tasks and thus improve patient care.

In addition, the number of nursing staff has been increased by a whopping 39 percent since 2021! Through targeted measures in the field of training and the integration of international specialists, the clinics in Biberach shows that they are willing to successfully combat the shortage of skilled workers.
