Ostfildern, Deutschland - Baden-Württemberg reacts to the increasing number of refugees and has launched a new housing support program. In view of the effects of the Ukraine secretary, the municipalities face the challenge of creating sufficient living space for immigrants. Minister of construction Nicole Razavi (CDU) emphasized in a message that 255 permits for 144 municipalities with a total volume of around 77.8 million euros were granted by mid -December. These funds are used to create 1,438 apartments and 476 residential groups that extend over around 96,000 square meters. In Baden-Württemberg, 112,600 refugee people from Ukraine have been registered since the start of the war, which is more than throughout 2015.
funding program for sustainable living space
The country promotes the new building and the creation of living space with a fixed amount of 1,000 euros per square meter of living space. The total costs amount to around 4,000 euros per square meter, and the municipalities must ensure that the newly created living space is available for refugees for at least ten years. Minister Razavi pointed out that this support program not only benefits the refugee, but also helps the entire housing market. She said, "We don't let the communities down in the difficult task of accommodating these people." This measure aims to avoid a repression competition on the already tense housing market, especially among the weakest in society.
With a total budget of 80 million euros for the years 2022 and 2023, it is expected that the program will be as successful as the previous one, which ran from 2015 to 2017 and created 2,571 apartments and numerous shared accommodation. Applications for the new program are expected to be submitted to the L-Bank support bank after the summer break. According to Razavi, this initiative could significantly improve the living space situation in the municipalities and help many in search of affordable living space, as from the reports of the Stuttgart newspaper emerges.
