Great fire in Baden-Baden: City center until Saturday closed!

In the city center of Baden-Baden, a heavy roof truss fire caused a sensation on December 7th and triggered an extensive operations. The fire brigade was alerted around 6:08 p.m. after numerous emergency calls were received by massive smoke development. When they arrive, the flames already hit the roof, which required an immediate increase in the alarm level. Thanks to the courageous intervention of the approximately 250 emergency services, the spread of the fire on adjacent buildings was prevented, as the city administration reported in a press release. Mayor Dietmar Späth praised the fire brigade and the helpers from surrounding communities for their quick and effective response to the impending catastrophe, which luckily remained without personal injury.

The fire in Lichtenaler Straße lasted until lunchtime of the following day, which also had profound consequences for traffic in the city. The city center was cordoned off and bus traffic had to be redirected. In addition, a specialist company was consulted with a crane car and the rescue rescue center to remove the embers and remove parts of the damaged roof structure. The extinguishing work was particularly challenging due to the old, dry wood, which was also covered with sheet metal, which promoted the extreme heat and the risk of spreading fire, reported the operations manager Christian Parrdeaux. Also the employees: Inside the Technical Relief Agency (THW) and a drone relay was granted support in the position assessment at the site.
