New rescue station in Staig: Fast help in the Alb-Donau district!
With the commissioning of a new rescue station in Staig at the turn of the year, the emergency services in the southern Alb-Donau district were significantly improved. The official opening took place on Thursday, January 1, 2025. An ambulance of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund (ASB) is now permanently on site, which shortens the response times in emergencies.
This measure is to ensure a dense rescue network in the region. Urban institutions such as the guards on the Kuhberg and in Ehingen have not always been able to adhere to the legally required operating times in the past, especially with higher utilization. A legal change in July 2024, which prescribes an arrival of the ambulance within 12 minutes at the site, made the construction of new stations necessary.
Details on the new guard
The new guard in Staig is designed as a container construction and consists of seven containers and a large wooden carport for the ambulance. This provisional was chosen to be quickly operational, while the construction of a fixed building is planned in the medium term. The guard is equipped with social rooms, storage rooms, jobs and showers and thus offers an appropriate working environment for the rescue team.
The rescue workers in Staig are on site during the day in a twelve-hour layer from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. At night, the supply support is carried out by the existing guards in Ehingen and on the Kuhberg. The municipalities in the southern Alb-Donau district are grateful for these additional rescue funds, as the new guards in Staig and Erbach are a significant pension for the region.
The opening of the new rescue station in Staig is an important step to ensure efficient and quick rescue service, such as the reporting of the General and the SWP clarify.
