District council demands: Hospital reform must now be secured financially!

The Alb-Donau district raises its voice against the impending hospital reform! In a heated meeting, the district council adopted a resolution that is directly aimed at the government of Baden-Württemberg. The reform, which is already to be decided by the Bundestag, could have catastrophic consequences for the clinics in the country!

The alarm bells ring out loud! The Alb-Donau district demands that Baden-Württemberg call the mediation committee in the Federal Council to revise the reform. The crucial date is November 22nd and time is forced! Because the hospitals in the southwest expect a huge deficit of 900 million euros for 2024! The Federal Government refuses to make the necessary inflation compensation for the years 2022 to 2024. Without quick action, many clinics threaten bankruptcy!

Criticism

Heiner Scheffold, District Administrator and CEO of the Baden-Württemberg Hospital Society (BWKG), warns: "If it all goes through it, then this will have serious consequences." The reform sets incorrect incentives and leads to an "de -economicization" of the clinic system, which does not take place in reality. Clinics are evaluated individually, which endangers the cooperation with each other!

Die Resolution fand breite Unterstützung im Kreistag. Klara Dorner, SPD parliamentary group leader, emphasizes: "This is the right way!" Daniele Salemi from the free voters warns of the financial consequences for the district: "We have to compensate for these deficits, and the money is then missing elsewhere." Scheffold is optimistic that the mediation committee can quickly implement improvements before Chancellor Olaf Scholz asks the question of trust in the Bundestag on December 11th. Time is pushing and the future of the clinics is on the brink!
