Strike chaos in the Ostalb district: bus lines affected - information here!
On January 9 and 10, 2025, the ver.di union calls on warning strikes in the private omnibus industry. In the Ostalb district, the bus company Friedrich Müller Omnibus company GmbH is particularly affected by the strikes. These actions are not only locally, but also affect several other regions in Baden-Württemberg, including Ludwigsburg, Waiblingen, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Hemmingen, Backnang, Tübingen, Reutlingen, Esslingen, Heilbronn, Karlsruhe, Pforzheim, Schwäbisch Hall, Heidenheim, Aalen, Schwäbisch Gmünd and Böblingen.
The first round of negotiations on December 18, 2024 ended without an offer for employers for the approximately 9,000 employees in the private bus industry in Baden-Württemberg. In this context, ver.di calls for an increase in the fee by nine percent and an additional 100 euros per month for trainees with a term of twelve months. The obligation to peace, which was valid until December 31, 2024, has now expired.
Affected driving lines and scope of the failures
For the Ostalbkreis, possible driving failures have been announced on several lines, including lines 63, 67 and 74 and bus lines towards Aalen. Information on the specific driving failures is provided on the Ostalbmobil website, which is concerned with the announcement of the affected lines.
In addition, the entire day is expected to take strike measures. Ostalb-Mobil regrets the effects, especially on school, vocational and training transactions. The other affected regions include the greater Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Schwäbisch Hall, Heidenheim, Reutlingen, Tübingen, Waiblingen, Böblingen, Ludwigsburg, Backnang and Bietigheim-Bissingen.
The ver.di union expects a high participation of the driver in the strike and plans a protest meeting of the bus drivers at 7.30 a.m. in front of the HVG company in Heidenheim. The managing director of ver.di Ulm-Oberschwaben, Maria Winkler, commented on the skills and the entry salaries. Criticism of the strike measures and the demands of ver.di came from the Association of Baden-Württemberg omnibus company (WBO), which points out that the wages have increased by about 15 percent in the past 24 months. WBO managing director Yvonne Hüneburg described the demand for nine percent more fee than unrealistic.
