Renery in the court: 21-year-old convicted of fatal car racing
A 21-year-old man from Aalen was convicted of a fellow death by a juvenile judge at the district court of Ellwangen. The incident occurred during an illegal car race on the B29 near Hermannsfeld in September 2023. In this race, the 42-year-old racing participant, who was traveling with an AMG Mercedes, lost his life. According to the judgment, the defendant was punished with 14 months' youth penalty on probation, a fine of 1,500 euros and a one -year driving license lock.
The accident occurred on September 29, 2023 at around 2 p.m. when both drivers drove at speeds of around 200 km/h, while the permitted top speed was only 120 km/h. The 42-year-old drove into a narrowing of the road and crashed into his vehicle under a standing tractor-trailer. The defendant, on the other hand, drove with a Mercedes A-Class and collided with an uninvolved car.
Details on the allegations and the judgment
The indictment included several serious offenses, including participation in a forbidden motor vehicle race, negligent killing, assault and driving without a license. The accused had previously voluntarily handed over his driver's license and was therefore not in possession of a valid driver's license. At the negotiation, the defender reported that the accused could be carried away by the speed of the other vehicle. As a result of the accident, he himself suffered fractures on the lumbar spine and lost his job.
accident witnesses described that the two vehicles could rap quickly and brake late. Expert determined that the AMG-Mercedes drove five seconds before the collision at a speed of 209 km/h. The course of the accident shows that the AMG braked 165 meters before the accident site before the accused ran. The electronic data of the vehicles were used for evidence. While the prosecutor demanded a higher penalty of 22 months on probation and a money requirement of 4,000 euros, the defense lawyer pleaded for a suspended sentence of only 8 months, together with the fine of 1,500 euros and a one -year driving license lock.
frenzy and illegal car racing are not only a problem in Ellwangen. In Berlin, a report reported on the dramatic increase in frenzy incidents. In 2023, 923 processes for frenzy were initiated there, which has been a record since the fault of the law was seven years ago. The causes include the increasing trend towards highly motorized vehicles and the simple access to these vehicles for young men. In Berlin, the city is considered a hotspot for frenzy, whereby around 40% of the processes affect escape trips, often in connection with drugs, such as reported.
