AfD party conference in Riesa: Family picture ensures exciting debates!

On January 12, 2025, the AfD continued its party congress in Riesa, with various resolutions being made on family policy. The delegates decided to include the sentence in the election program: "The family, consisting of father, mother and children, is the nucleus of society". This represents a change to the original draft program in which it was said: "The family is the nucleus of our society".

Wiebke Muhsal, a Thuringian AfD politician, said that children do not come somewhere and family is where a man and a woman get children together. In contrast, the Hamburg delegated Krzysztof Walczak emphasized that the wording of a mission statement does not implied that other life and family models are rejected.

The party congress will finalize the election program for the Bundestag election on February 23. In addition, the future of the young alternative is decided. The party congress started on Saturday with more than two hours delay because protesting blockade actions carried out. On Sunday, however, the journey for the delegates was disruptive.
