Yutong presents revolutionary e-bus on Uitp summit in Hamburg!
Hamburg, Deutschland - Yutong Bus presented the latest innovations for environmentally friendly public transport at the Uitp Summit 2025 in Hamburg from June 15th to 18th. Under the motto "Think Eco, Move Green", the company presented two main models: the battery-electrical IntercityBus IC12E and the premium city bus U12. These vehicles stand as an example of Yutong's commitment to sustainable mobility.
An outstanding feature of the IC12E is its special development for the European market. The bus offers numerous advantages, including a large range and high capacity. During a test drive in countries such as Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway over a distance of 1272 km, the IC12E showed an average energy consumption of only 0.7 kWh/km, which makes it an efficient means of transport. The model achieved particular success on the journey between Germany and Denmark, where the SOC dropped from 99 % to 31 %, but was still available a residual range of 170 km. In addition, the bus proved its robustness in Norway with a climbing capacity of 20 %.
advanced e-bus for urban environment
The Yutong U12, as a battery-operated premium e-bus, offers a capacity for up to 95 passengers and represents an ideal solution for urban transport. The 12-meter-long vehicle is characterized by a high-strength body structure and the Yess battery safety system and was awarded the Busworld Design Label. These innovations are part of the continuous efforts of Yutong to promote safe and comfortable mobility solutions.
Jack Li, CEO of Yutong Central & Northern Europe, in his speech emphasized the company's conviction that the future of public mobility was in sustainable transport solutions. In addition, Yutong's models are designed for the different road conditions in European countries, which underlines the adaptability and efficiency of the vehicles.
market and challenges
Despite the positive developments in e-bus technology, transport companies face challenges. According to EnBW, hybrid and electric buses currently only make up around 2.4 percent of the German public transport bus fleet. The switch to electrical buses is cost -intensive because a 12 meter long electric bus costs two and a half times as much as a diesel bus. Funding measures by the Federal Government, such as purchase bonuses and tax breaks, are intended to support the changeover. There are currently 1,884 buses with electrified drives in Germany, with over half of the electric buses coming to the streets in the past two years.
yutong plans to continue to offer environmentally friendly, safe and comfortable mobility solutions in order to strengthen competitiveness and to draw full benefits from the ambitious switch to electrical means of transport.
The innovative strength of Yutong and the current market strategy illustrate the trend towards sustainable traffic solutions that is important not only for companies, but also for the environment.
