Discover the upside down town of Hotel: Tradition meets new!

In Zell am See, the Hotel Neue Post has changed fundamentally and is now presenting itself under the new name "Upside Down Town Hotel - Neue Post". Nadia Bruckner, 36, and Darijo Vujicic, 33 who took over the hotel, have created a reinterpretation of the traditional house in close cooperation with the BWM Architects. The name "Upide Down" symbolically stands for rethinking in the hotel industry and emphasizes the central location both on the banks of the lake and surrounded by the mountains.

The redesign attach great importance to the visibility and reinterpretation of historical elements, whereby tradition is considered the foundation of architecture. As part of the project, 81 rooms and the general areas were renovated, whereby the inventory remained as much as possible. Old, handmade wooden ceilings were integrated into the design, which gives the hotel character and emphasized the connection to the history. New floor plans and a fresh attitude to life create spaces for art, conferences and encounters.

modern comfort meets history

In the heart of the hotel is the redesigned Lapponia Bar, which acts as a central connecting element and creates an inviting room for guests. Bruckner emphasizes the bar as one of her favorite places, especially in the evening when it invites you to relax with music and wine. The special gastronomic offer of the restaurant combines international flavors with regional products in lovingly designed themed rooms, including a modernized Swiss pine and a new Izakaya room that combines local and Japanese elements.

The challenges during the redesign included the balance between old and new and between vision and reality. The designers kept the historical ceiling structures of the lobby and lounge and cleverly combined with modern elements. In addition, the hotel has a wellness area that is equipped with a hot whirlpool, steam bath, three saunas and access to the garden with a pool.

reactions and outlook

regular guests of the hotel are mostly positive to the new concept, although some had to get used to the changes. Bruckner expresses her appreciation for hotels who have character and soul and are designed with heart. This philosophy can be seen in the selection of materials and colors used in the rooms: high -quality natural wood floors and custom -made furniture create a reduced but inviting atmosphere. Colored accents in bright tones of taupe, emerald green, terracotta and pigeon blue complete the overall picture.

Developments in the hotel building, as they meet the trend of innovative spatial concepts, are of growing importance in the industry. According to Hotelier.de, guests are usually open to extraordinary hotel concepts than for their own living spaces. That fits the vision of the upside down town of Hotels, which is not only a place to stay, but also a room for creative encounters and unconventional experiences.

With the opening of the newly designed hotel, Zell am See is not only enriched with a modern hotel, but also with a space that promotes the dialogue between history and innovation. The transformation shows how contemporary hotel architecture can influence the construction process. The project is an example of the commitment of the architects, wooden architecture and hospitality that are inseparable from each other.
