Brake test of the Microlino: Lifted wheels cause excitement!

The Microlino, an innovative electric vehicle that is considered a modern successor to the classic Isetta, is at the center of the current mobility debate. This vehicle developed by Micro Mobility impresses with its nostalgic design and compactness. With a length of 2.4 meters and a width of 1.5 meters, it offers a future-oriented solution for urban mobility.

However, the state-of-the-art test drives also revealed some challenges. As krone.at reports, the driving behavior of the Microlino was borderline. During a braking test, which is normally carried out from 100 km/h, the test pilot noticed that the rear wheels lifted at 90 km/h. This raises questions about the driving safety of the vehicle. The manufacturer has already announced that it will investigate the braking problems.

Market launch and competition

The Microlino is expected to be launched in France in early 2023. It will be direct competition to the popular Citroën Ami, which has already secured a permanent place on the French market. The price of the Microlino starts at 12,000 euros, while the more powerful version with a range of 228 km will be available for 18,000 euros. A total of three battery options are available: 6 kWh (90 km range), 10.5 kWh (177 km range) and 14 kWh (230 km range).

Micro Mobility has established itself as a specialist for small vehicles and plans to address a broader urbanized target group with the Microlino. This vehicle is designed as a cross between a car and a motorcycle and features a digital display in the interior that shows important driving data.

Micromobility in focus

According to the 2023 micromobility study by the Bundesverband eMobilität e.V., there is increasing interest in electric light vehicles (LEV). These vehicles, which also include the Microlino, are increasingly in demand not only in urban areas but also in rural areas. Over 50% of LEV users have reduced their automobile use, highlighting the relevance of this new vehicle category.

The study also shows that LEV users tend to have higher incomes and live in well-connected areas. This could benefit the Microlino, which is aimed at a higher budget audience. The survey results show that 31% of non-owners are interested in purchasing, while 10% predict a bright future for LEVs. This makes it clear that acceptance of small electric vehicles is continually increasing.

Overall, the Microlino is launching in a promising market for micromobility that is characterized by the desire for more environmentally friendly alternative means of transport. Continued developments and responses to security issues will be critical to its long-term success.
