Doctors' publisher cracks the 600,000 reader brand: a success for Austria!
The current media analysis (MA) 2024 shows that the doctor's publisher with its publications health and medicine for the first time reached over 600,000 readers per month. This is a significant success and confirms the position of the publisher as one of the top players in the Austrian magazine market. Managing Director Mag. Philipp Ita and KommR Axel C. Moser are happy about this development, which was particularly favored by digital performance and growth among young readers.
Gesund & Leben achieved a range of 5.1 % and reaches 394,000 readers a month. Medicine popularly records a range of 3.5 % and reaches 269,000 readers. Together, this results in a combination range of 7.9 % and a total readership of over 600,000. Medicine popularly provides well -founded information on health and medical developments and has a monthly edition of over 100,000 copies.
focus on health and quality of life
The magazine Health and Life, which has been published for 20 years, focuses on the topics of prevention medicine, nutrition, movement and mental health. It offers practical tips and inspiring reports to increase the health literacy of the population and relieve the health system. Over 25,000 subscribers already benefit from weekly newsletters that represent an additional source of information.
The success of the doctor's publisher is also reflected in comparable publications. According to a study by the German medical leaf, more than 90 % of the doctors surveyed read at least one issue per quarter. In the specialist groups of internal medicine and neurology & psychiatry in particular, the reader rates show a clear preference for this journal with 71%. The German Medical Leaf is the first choice for doctors in printed specialist journals.
The role of social media in healthcare
in healthcare, social media have become more important. A survey shows that internet users are increasingly using social media platforms to find out about health issues. Popular sources of information are wikis (53 %), advisory communities (49 %) and internet forums (47 %). Chronically ill people are particularly active users of these sources of information. An open exchange about social media is becoming increasingly important, with doctors, clinics and psychotherapists regard the preferred contact.
The trend towards using social media is also evident in the willingness of 40 % of the statutory health insurance companies to use this channel for communication. However, almost half of the Hessian hospitals ignore this development. Of the active users of the healthcare system, 20 % have already established a presence on social media, while 25 % are planning to do so. However, there are concerns about data protection and negative feedback.
The combination of reliable information in magazines and the active use of social media is a dynamic image of German health communication. This development will not only revolutionize information procurement, but also change the relationship between doctors and patients in the future.
Further details on these developments can be found in the comprehensive analysis of the Ärztverlag , Health Relations and Ärzteblatt .
