Bregenz, Österreich - Vorarlberg experiences a tourism boom with almost 100 percent utilization in the hotel industry for Christmas. Christian Schützinger, Managing Director of Vorarlberg Tourism, explains that all types of accommodation, from private rooms to five-star hotel, are heavily booked. Wellness hotels are particularly popular that can already record good figures, since November and December are the main wellness times. Despite the high demand, the guests' stays remain shorter, an average of four to five days instead of six to seven, which, according to Heike Ladurner-Strolz, the spokeswoman for the hotel industry, is also due to inflation. The majority of visitors still come from Germany, the Netherlands and Switzerland, but there is also an increase to guests from America, Great Britain and Scandinavian countries, reports Vorarlberg tourism .

energy saving becomes a requirement of the hour

In view of the current energy crisis, the Vorarlberg tourism industry recommended measures to save energy to prevent bottlenecks. The Federal Government's “Mission 11” campaign aims to save eleven percent in electricity, with the Vorarlberg gastronomy and hotel industry a good example ahead. Markus Kegele, chairman of the tourism and leisure industry division in the Chamber of Commerce, explains that sustainable management and energy savings can go hand in hand without affecting the comfort of the guests. The companies implement solutions such as energy-efficient lighting and reduced cleaning intervals, as also reported by VLK .

In order to achieve the desired savings goals, the Vorarlberg cable cars are also planning measures such as reduced driving speeds and changing operating times. Specialist group chairman Andreas Gapp explains that a reduction in the driving speed can save up to 15 percent energy one meter per second. These initiatives aim to maintain the environmentally friendly standards and at the same time guarantee the guests a pleasant stay.
