Vienna People's Party demands a strong security package against youth violence!

In a rapid step, the Federal Government presented significant measures in the areas of security and migration on March 12, 2025. Karl Mahrer, the state party chairman of the Vienna People's Party, expressed his satisfaction with the provisional immediate stop of the family reunification. "This helps the overloaded systems in education, health and security - Vienna in particular will benefit from it!" Says Mahrer. In addition, the People's Party supports the plans of EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner to accelerate the deportations of illegal migrants and impose harder entry bans. Mahrer emphasizes that these steps show that the political center is able to solve current problems and refers to the need for return centers in third countries, such as ots.at reported.

New 10-point security package for Vienna

In view of a prospective security situation, the Vienna People's Party presented a comprehensive 10-point security package. Mahrer criticizes the red-pink city government and explains: "Today there are more hot spots in the city than ever before. Our city tilts and changes rapidly, but unfortunately to the bad." The security package focuses on combating violence, organized crimes and extremist structures. The need to strengthen the subjective feeling of security of the Viennese population is particularly emphasized and respond to the roots of crime, as zur-sache.at In the context of these measures, the People's Party calls for the installation of 5,000 surveillance cameras to critical locations to improve the security situation. "This monitoring can increase the educational rate of crimes and accelerate investigations," said Mahrer. An additional element is the introduction of a city guard to support the police. In addition, zero tolerance zones are to be set up in which the police are increasingly present. Mahrer is calling for a total of 1,500 additional police officers for Vienna in order to be able to react appropriately to the increasing security concerns.
