In advance for more electric trucks: New fast charging park in Wörth opened!
In an effort to make a future-proof mobility for truck, Mercedes-Benz Truck has opened a new quick charging park at the Wörth location. This is equipped with six powerful quick charging stations that provide 400 kW each. The official opening act took place in the presence of Mayor Steffen Weiß and Andreas Bachhofer, the site manager, the symbolically strong stream cables. The loading park is part of Mercedes-Benz ’s strategy to convert the entire delivery traffic to electric trucks by the end of 2026, and represents an important step towards sustainable logistics.
expansion of the charging infrastructure
The importance of a comprehensive quick-loading network for electric trucks is becoming increasingly clear. According to a response from the federal government to a request from the CDU member of the Bundestag Thomas Gebhart, at least 20 more will be installed in addition to the existing 80 quick charging stations in Germany in the coming year. So far, the required charging stations have been missing, especially in Rhineland-Palatinate, only 12 are available, two of which are in the Germersheim district. Gebhart emphasized the need for a comprehensive charging infrastructure in order to enable emission -free trucks to break through and thus also to secure jobs. The charging stations in the Mercedes-Benz plant Wörth, on the other hand, are not publicly accessible, but make a decisive contribution to the internal logistics of the company.
In addition to the new quick charging stations, Mercedes-Benz Trucks plans to build further charging infrastructure on strategic points within the factory area. This is part of a more comprehensive plan that also includes the operation of the charging stations under the TruckCharge brand to offer tailor -made solutions for users. The newly installed loading park with a new transformer station, which provides an output of 6 megawatts, is crucial for the reliable power supply of the quick charging stations and underpins the ambitious goals of the company in relation to the electrification of truck traffic.
The opening of the quick charging park, according to Mayor Weiß, has signal importance for Wörth, a region that has traditionally been strongly connected to diesel trucks. This is a visible step towards more sustainability and a greener future for road freight transport, as well as mb passion reported. Developments in the area of electromobility underline the ongoing efforts to make logistics processes more environmentally friendly.
