Climate -friendly living: How the federal and state governments create new solutions!
In 2024, a total of 2,200 households in Lower Austria used free initial advice from the "Association of Wohnen", with two thirds of which were women. This form of advice has the goal of developing and stabilizing the life perspectives of the people seeking help. The managing director Ingrid Neuhauser proved that many people seeking advice are physically affected, which often leads to financial difficulties. If the advice alone is not sufficient, residential assistance can be used to find affordable apartments together with non -profit developers. In recent years, such programs have already been supplied with over 5,200 people in 2,300 apartments, as the State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister reported.
At the same time, residential construction in Germany faces enormous challenges: the merger of rising building interest rates, material bottlenecks and the geopolitical situation, especially through the Ukraine conflict, leads to an acute lack of affordable living space. In order to counteract this, the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) offered a mix of funded programs that aim to create affordable and climate -friendly living space. From 2022 to 2027, the states have records of up to 18.15 billion euros available for social housing. These programs are tailored to the specific needs of the regions and are aimed at households with low incomes as well as investors who want to start building social housing.
funding opportunities and challenges
Another remarkable support program is the new building funding of climate -friendly buildings, which new buildings, which comply with strict limit values for greenhouse gas emissions. With regard to ecological sustainability, the BMWSB offers programs such as "Women", where vacancies of commercial property can be converted into living space. This strategy could not only contribute to the creation of new living space, but also promote climate protection by enabling existing building substance. The Federal Government thus focuses on an effective use of funds to solve the current lack of living space, while the Lower Austrian government continues to invest heavily in housing subsidies in order to meet the growing requirements.
