FPÖ is planning an investigation by the Ministry of the Interior - the scandal is lurking there!
The Freedom Party (FPÖ) announced that it is planning to check the Interior Ministry as part of an investigation committee (U-Committee). This decision was made public today on April 4, 2025. The FPÖ's National Council Club locates numerous irregularities in the Ministry of the Interior and even speaks of a "deep black state" that needs to be illuminated. The internal decision -making process regarding the specific objects of investigation is almost complete, which indicates a rapid implementation. In this context, there is speculation about the possibility that the committee could also deal with the cause of the late Justice Section Director Christian Pilnacek. In addition, the FPÖ shows interest in examining the corona measures of the last federal government, although this is not undisputed and has already led to tensions internally.
But while the FPÖ focuses on the Ministry of the Interior, she also announced that it will not initiate a parliamentary U-committee to process the corona measures. This decision ensured criticism from the MFG Austria, which accuses the FPÖ, to break their discovery projects and promise in the election campaign. According to Manuel Krautgartner, a MfG-ÖÖ MP, this is a serious step backwards for democracy. The MFG-OÖ also states that a U-committee has extensive powers, while a commission is unable to apply the necessary investigative.
criticism and demands for transparency
The criticism of the FPÖ is reinforced by the feedback from other political actors. Joachim Aigner from MFG-Austria emphasizes the importance of the investigation and expresses concern about the compromises that the FPÖ is now doing. Dagmar Häusler, also from the MFG, questions whether the FPÖ's withdrawal from the Corona work may have been withdrawn for fear of government negotiations. In connection with the Corona measures, the ÖVP MFG accuses of benefiting from the crisis and demands transparency and consequences for those responsible.
In addition, the FPÖ signals a change of course in other political issues. The party wants to abolish CO₂ tax, but leaves the climate monus untouched. The government negotiations on Sky Shield still have ambiguities about the attitude of the FPÖ. The MFG plans a press conference on February 5, 2025 to report on the broken promises of the FPÖ and to emphasize the urgency of a comprehensive corona processing.
The developments related to the FPÖ and the associated political negotiations are still being followed carefully, in particular against the background of the upcoming U-committees. A comprehensive insight into the processes is of great importance for voters to influence their decisions in future elections.
