opposition criticizes the draft budget

as disappointing, met with violent arguments in the National Council. The SPÖ described the budget as a "gigantic debt backpack" and found that the title "Behind us the deluge" would have fit better. The FPÖ also "not sufficient" the draft and criticized the increasing government debt.

SPÖ club chairman Philip Kucher points out that the government's one-off payments are fizzled out and that people are now exposed to double loads. His FPÖ colleague Hubert Fuchs speaks of an "ambition-free budget" that does not offer any sustainable solutions. The Greens, on the other hand, defend the draft budget as a "climate budget" that protects the judiciary and plans for the future. The budget design must now be processed in committees.
