In 2024, Vienna recorded an unprecedented increase in the establishment of international companies: 218 companies from 47 countries invested impressive 530 million euros in the Austrian capital. This represents an increase of around 25 percent compared to the previous year and creates 915 new jobs. The most important industries are information and communication technology, company services and life sciences, which opened by companies such as the Dutch company Fastned, which opens up fast charging stations for electric vehicles.

new impulses through international expertise

Another reason to joy for Vienna is the decision of many companies from the Asian region, such as the Japanese Startup Spiral Europe, to settle in the city. Managing Director Miyu Nishihira said that Vienna offers optimal conditions for innovative drone technologies. The LIFE sciences sector also continues to grow: the German biotechnology company Alpine Biolabs recently opened a branch that deals with the production of cannabis-based pharmaceutical products. These developments strengthen Vienna's position as a global innovation location.

The Vienna Business Agency underlines the successes with its continuous support through individual advice and skilled workers, such as the Expat Center, which carried out more than 5,200 consultations in 2024. Eva Schlintl, cluster manager at Lisavienna, is responsible for the further development of the Vienna Life Science Cluster and promotes networking in the industry through its extensive experience in life science. Her commitment to Austrian start-ups gives hope for a promising future, especially in the field of biotechnology and medical technology, and attracts international investors, as the increasing number of settlement shows.
