The role of the Sales Agents

Sales Agents, or trading agents, play an important role in the distribution of products and services between companies in the B2B sector. Every year they generate an order volume of over 31 billion euros and, through their market knowledge, networks and independence, offer decisive advantages for many companies. Despite economic uncertainties and a pandeme-related challenge, the number of market participants remains stable, which confirms a current study by the Market Institute.

On average, Sales Agents look after about four representations, with 70 percent of the clients being small and medium-sized companies (SMEs). The focus is on industries such as the clothing and textile industry as well as for furniture producers. Over 60 percent of Sales Agents are focused on the Austrian market, while 42 percent also serve international markets.

challenges and perspectives

The challenges in front of which Sales Agents are facing are diverse. This includes, among other things, the decline in travel volume compared to 2019, which is due to changed economic framework. Considerable relief in the conditions for the ecologization of the vehicle fleet of the Sales Agents are required to halve the current annual consumption of 21 million liters of fuel. However, electric vehicles that are considered an environmentally friendly alternative do not manage to fill this gap due to range and infrastructure problems.

In a constantly changing market, sales agents are crucial for companies, since they not only have in -depth knowledge of local markets and customer preferences, but also an extensive network of contacts that is essential for the sales process. These agents usually work on a commission basis, which can significantly reduce the fixed costs for companies and enables the sales strategies to be adjusted to market fluctuations. This shows how important the role of sales agents is for economic success in various industries.

The committed communication and the current campaign that should appeal to young people aim to promote interest in self -employment in sales. This not only promotes the future of the industry, but also its growth by integrating new talents into the market.

The Sales Agents in Austria not only offer services, but are also pioneering for new business models and sustainable entrepreneurial approaches that are becoming increasingly important in the globalized economy.
