economic framework of the industry
The economic conditions for postal, courier and express services are remarkable. According to Destatis , these services are among the industry with the lowest merits in the entire service sector. In 2019, the average gross monthly earnings was 2,924 euros, which is about 1,000 euros less than the average of all employees. Despite an increase of 15.6 percent since 2010, this has been comparatively low.
The industry also records a large number of atypical employees, 63 percent of whom do not work in traditional full -time positions. The fact that 63 percent of full -time forces have to work on weekends or on public holidays is particularly challenging, which is a significant difference compared to 36 percent in other industries.
