Carinthia shines: foreign trade surplus despite difficult times!
The latest commercial numbers from Carinthia show a remarkable development: a significant decline in exports from 4.6 percent to 4.73 billion euros, paired with an even more dramatic decrease in imports by 9.2 percent to 3.961 billion euros. This leads to an increased foreign trade surplus for the federal state, which thus becomes one of the five regions with a positive balance within Austria. These developments are important because they appear in times of global uncertainties, as click Carinthia reports.
important merchant data
Germany remains the most important trading partner of Carinthia with an export volume of 1.37 billion euros, despite a decline of 6.2 percent. In contrast, China surprised, where the exports rose by an impressive 118.4 percent. In the list of exported goods, the "boilers, machines and devices" grew by 7.5 percent, while industries such as "iron and steel" a minus of 17.3 percent and "meat" even suffered by 40.2 percent, as the numbers show.
The State of Economic Affairs calls for a comprehensive export package to diversify markets and secure jobs. The aim is to strengthen Carinthia as an international player, especially with regard to new trade agreements, including Mercosur. This is particularly relevant if you look at the general trends in the export of the EU that have varied over the years. According to Statista , the export of goods within the EU grows continuously, which is needed to react to changing markets.
