Dangerous sweets: do the confectioners stumbling?
Mönchengladbach, Deutschland - The struggle for quality in confectioner craft has flared up! In the run -up to Christmas, when homemade baked goods are more in demand than ever, the situation for professional confectioners is becoming increasingly dramatic. Gunther Fenkart, the designated guild master, and Jennifer Grabher, managing director of the specialist group in Vorarlberg, are alarm: More and more private individuals are offering cakes and tarts, for example for weddings or baptisms, and thus blur the boundaries between hobby and business. This uncontrolled practice not only endangers the traditional businesses, but also the health of consumers, since many of these homemade products do not meet the strict hygiene and quality standards that have to comply with commercial confectioners, such as Vol.at reported.
struggle for clear rules in craft
This challenge is further tightened by the outdated legislative situation on the domestic sideline, which dates from the post -war period. It allows numerous gray areas that are difficult to control for the authorities. In order to protect fair competition, the Chamber of Commerce calls for a clearer definition of the legal framework. "In other industries, undeclared work is not allowed to a certain extent," says Fenkart. It is high time to tighten the regulations and reduce the pressure on the domestic pastry shop.
The Federal Guild Association for the Confectioners' Handy, part of the German Confession Association, supports these claims and is committed to a greater regulation of the industry. The association, whose general meetings take place annually and which is led by a volunteer board, sees itself as a duty to represent the interests of the confectioners and to secure the high quality in the craft. "We have to do everything we can to the fact that the high standards we stand for are not watered down," emphasizes the association, such as konditoren.de reported.
