Broadband expansion in the district of Osnabrück: Last phase for fast internet!

Hof Kreyenhagen, Ostercappeln, Deutschland - The broadband expansion in the district of Osnabrück reaches a decisive milestone! At the Kreyenhagen farm in Ostercappeln-Venne, the groundbreaking ceremony for the last construction phase was set. By the end of 2025, the so -called white spots, areas with less than 30 megabits per second, should finally disappear. No household and no company is left behind - that is the goal!

A total of around 337 kilometers of fiber optic routes are laid, which enable 1,100 new house connections. This measure will not only increase the quality of life of the residents, but also benefit agriculture, which is one of the industries with the greatest broadband requirements. The district of Osnabrück is determined to promote digitization in the region and has joined the Agrotech Valley Forum.

funding and partner

The financing of the project is impressive: 50 percent of the federal government, 25 percent of the state of Lower Saxony, and the remaining 25 percent is bearing the district itself. After a tender, the companies Fonbud, Kuhlmann B are commissioned with the civil engineering work. The engineering company Nordwest and GVG Glasfaser are partners of the district's own subsidiary Telkos. GVG glass fiber has specialized in the innovative fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) technology, which enables a direct fiber optic connection to the house and thus revolutionizes the use of the Internet.

And that's not all! As soon as the white spots have been removed, the district will also tackle the gray spots. A comprehensive broadband network for everyone - that is the vision that is now reality!
