Austria's first triple coalition: What does it mean for Styria?
On February 27, 2025, the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS presented their joint government program in a historical settlement. This marks the first triple coalition in Austria. The party leader: Inside, a program presented central topics such as affordable energy, health, asylum and education. According to political scientist Katrin Protnik, the program reflects the hopes and claims of all three parties. Projects were also mentioned in which each party can set its specific focuses, such as the stricter migration and asylum policy of the ÖVP.
The new government is planning significant measures in the social sector. For example, a rental price brake for old building apartments is introduced, which can be relieved for many citizens. The SPÖ sets an important sign with frozen rents, while the NEOS in the field of education aim to better equip schools with higher support needs.
