New educational grätzl in Hernals: Together for equal opportunities!
In Hernals, nine schools together with kindergartens and local facilities came together in Hernals to form the "Bildungsgrätzl Hernals". This step is intended to promote improved networking in the district and offer continuous educational offers as well as social support for children and adolescents. The mayor Bettina Emmerling emphasized the importance of language support and strong partnerships in the district, while district manager Peter Jagsch emphasized the cooperation between schools and educational institutions. Michaela Dallinger from the Vienna Education Directorate described the initiative as a valuable contribution to equal opportunities that plays a central role in social participation.
The motto of the project "For good coexistence" reflects the ambitions of those involved to create a common basis in an increasingly diverse environment. A first highlight was the multilingual day in February, which was organized by the Volkshochschule (VHS) Hernals and the "Balu & Du" association. Here, elementary school children were able to get to know different languages and cultures in a playful way. The soon planned activities include parents with interpreting, a Grätzl-Rally for students and practical training for school staff.
equal opportunities in the education system
The merger in Hernals is in the context of the far -reaching discussion about equal opportunities. This is formulated as a central concern in many political programs. In 2017, 78 % of the equal opportunities surveyed considered important, regardless of social origin, gender or descent, such as the bpb . Nevertheless, there are still big differences in educational opportunities, especially for children from lower social classes and with a migration background.
Education is often understood as the key to access to well -paid professions. Studies show that children from socially disadvantaged families perform significantly worse than their peers from wealthy circumstances. There are great differences in particular when it comes to the transition rate from primary school to secondary schools. The 2016 IGLU examination shows that children from the upper layer have almost four times higher chances of a high school recommendation with the same cognitive skills.
educational inequality and its consequences
Education of education has far -reaching consequences for individual life courses and for society as a whole. Access to education and the associated opportunities not only influence the professional career, but also income, health and social participation. The BPB indicates that reforms in the education system often fail to combat these inequalities. Early funding and support is crucial to ensure the same access to education for all children.
with 34 active educational grätzln in Vienna, including the newly launched educational grätzl in Hernals, an attempt is made to increase educational opportunities and promote social participation. In a social context in which the demand for equal opportunities and performance is louder, this new model of networking could be an important step in the right direction.
