Musical about Carinthian Slovenes: A sign of peace and cohesion!

A moving school musical that deals with the fates of the Carinthian Slovenes during the Second World War, faces his premiere in Bleiburg. The performances take place on June 25th and 26th in the Kulturni Dom Bleiburg and promise a spectacular experience with around 100 children and professional musical accompaniment. With the support of experienced professionals from the areas of music, theater and art, the students work hard on singing, dance and acting to prepare optimally for the big event, such as Klick-kaernten.at reported.

The music of the musical comes from jazz musician Stefan Thaler, while the text was written by Peter Svetina. The direction leads Alexander Tolmaier, supported by scenographer Simona Kraiger. The ensemble is accompanied by a first -class team, including graduates from the Gustav Mahler Private University. This performance is not only musical, but also a sign of peace and cohesion, as the director of the European School, Danilo Katz, emphasizes. Further cultural education initiatives of this kind have been promoted by school for years.

cultural reflection

Interestingly, the Carinthian Janko Ferk also refers to the topic of the Carinthian Slovenes in his new book, which underlines the connection between education and culture. His book "Contributions, conversations and approvals" written about the work of Peter Handke addresses the importance of the Slovenian minority in Carinthia. Ferk illuminates the role of handkes in the context of the local area dispute and its literary commitment to Slovenian culture. This happens at a time when the political history and challenges of this community are of central importance, as also note.
