The award winners: Inside, not only with ecological issues, but also with social, political and cultural aspects of sustainable development. This is particularly important to prepare students: inside for the complex challenges of the future.

The excellent schools

Among the honored schools in Münster are renowned institutions such as the Paulinum high school, the Schillergymnasium and the Peace School. The Pascal Gymnasium, the Wilhelm-Hittorf-Gymnasium as well as the Adolph-Kolping vocational college and the Mathilde Anneke comprehensive school are also entitled "School of the Future" along this program. These schools have launched projects in recent months that promote awareness of sustainable practices among the students and actively give them the opportunity to participate in the design of a more sustainable future.

At the award ceremony, a living environment was created in which a creative market offered the opportunity to present various approaches to integrating education for sustainable development into everyday school life. Teachers and students were able to interact with each other and win new inspiration for their own projects. Such markets are an important part of the program, since they not only convey knowledge, but also promote the community within schools.

This award is not only a reward for the hard work and the commitment of these schools, but also an incentive for other educational institutions to start similar initiatives. At a time when globalization and climate change are above everything, it is essential that the coming generations learn early on how they can actively contribute to improving their environment. Therefore, the promotion of education for sustainable development in schools is increasingly becoming increasingly important.
