The backpack campaign of the Bautzen-Kamen church district is facing the grand finale! Until the third Advent, December 15, 2024, supporters have the opportunity to provide their help for 4,000 beginners in the Meru-Süd partner church district in Tanzania. In the past 15 years, numerous backpacks have been packed from Upper Lusatia, which the children serve as an indispensable sugar bag when school starts. The need for school material in Tanzania is enormous because many families are in economic difficulties due to crop failures and natural disasters. The filled backpacks must be handed over to the parish offices by December 15, in order to arrive in Tanzania in time in January. This initiative helps not only to provide help to school beginners, but also to create economic perspectives in the region.
