Does Upper Austria crumbly? Budget debate ensures turmoil!

In the course of the current budget debate in the Upper Austrian state parliament, the focus is on the family challenges and the offers for childcare. Felix Eypeltauer, club chairman of the Neos, criticized the long waiting lists for childcare offers. "The condition is for the parents, for the families: extremely long waiting lists, also in wealthy district capitals," he said, while Severin Mayr agreed to their parents' uncertainty. A counter-proposal came from the SPÖ training spokeswoman Doris Margreiter, who claimed a legal claim to a childcare place from the first year of life.

The MFG emphasizes that the essential concerns of the citizens in the budget for 2025 are also not taken into account. LAbg. Manuel Krautgartner, MFG-OÖ Klubobmann, asked the question of whether the budget set the right course for the future of Upper Austria or should manage further existence. Among other things, the MFG calls for greater financial support for education at home in order to enable parents to freedom of choice. "Parents who want to look after their children at home continue to be financially disadvantaged," criticized Krautgartner and demanded a pilot project to support these families. In addition, proportionate support for alternative educational paths should also be required in order to enable more diversity and individuality in the education system.

social concerns in focus

In addition to childcare and education, the MFG also addresses the consequences of the Corona measures and the need for a comprehensive processing. According to Krautgartner, there are still many affected people who suffer from health consequences and it is time to take responsibility. The MFG calls for the establishment of a Covid aid fund in the amount of 27.6 million euros and a specialist outpatient clinic for vaccine-damaged people. Energy policy is also considered problematic, since the MFG criticizes the quick implementation of renewable energies without taking the infrastructure into account. "This is a symbolic policy on the back of the citizens," says Krautgartner.

While the government representatives emphasize that the challenges are addressed with a budget focus of 418 million euros for the creation of modern crawling rooms and kindergartens, the MFG emphasizes the need for courageous and future -oriented solutions. "Upper Austria does not need an administration of the existing one, as the old and system parties like to do, but brave solutions for the future," summarizes Krautgartner. Further discussions about the state budget for 2025 are scheduled on Thursday, as reported.

The responsibility of politics is therefore to answer crucial key questions and to meet the needs of the population. It remains to be seen whether the ongoing debate leads to the required changes, because according to the MFG there could be a missed chance for necessary reforms, as in mfg-oe.at emphasized.
