Gröningen wins city conversion Award: Education as a key to the future!

Gröningen, Deutschland - A radiant victory for the small town of Gröningen in the Bördekreis! The "city conversion Award Sachsen-Anhalt" is based on the impressive project "Education makes future-Börde Campus" this year. In a solemn ceremony in Oschersleben, the award was presented by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Digital, which has been awarding the prize since 2018 together with the urban conversion competence center. Under the motto "Design cities - building community", this project stands out as "lighthouse of education in rural areas".

The "Börde Campus" includes a free secondary school and a free high school that together accommodate more than 550 students. Gröningen has not only provided empty real estate, but also unused open spaces in the city center to the non -profit school company. The jury praised the courage and enforcement strength of the city, which has taken a new way in times of demographic challenges.

First special price for Wittenberg

Another highlight of the award ceremony was the special prize awarded for the first time, which went to the “Stadtlabor” project in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. This innovative project under the motto "Change through action" enlivens the city center through hands-on initiatives and event formats. A total of 19 projects for the "Urban Remodeling Award Saxony-Anhalt 2024" had applied, twelve of which were nominated and five sent to the final. The projects aim to strengthen social infrastructures and have either been completed or developed significantly in the past five years.
