Grevesmühlen: School campus is opened earlier than planned!
In Grevesmühlen it was announced that the new school campus may be completed earlier than in 2030, possibly as early as 2027. Mayor Lars Prahler founded this optimistic view with the progress in the construction project, which is considered the largest of its kind in the city and was first presented almost ten years ago. Since then, Grevesmühlen has established itself as a showcase for investments in school infrastructure. The new regional school has been in operation for eleven months.
The Diakonie also plans the new mosaic school to create better conditions for students from next year. The demolition of two of the three buildings of the primary school on Lake Ploggens is currently planned and faster than expected. The third building will be preserved and will be used as a after -school care center in the future. Elementary school students will be temporarily taught in the former water tower school from August 2024.
Details on the school campus
The cornerstone for the new primary school could be laid this year, depending on the ongoing demolition work and the provision of funding. The city needs the country's urban development funds for the construction projects. Overall, 25 million euros are to be invested for the school campus, which also includes the central building with cafeteria and other rooms.
The mayor's meadow is being redesigned after the buildings have been completed, including parking spaces and stops for buses. At the moment, school buses have to keep in front of the water tower school due to the construction site, which leads to bottlenecks. The time frame for the construction of a new multi-purpose building at the Fritz-Reuter primary school remains unclear, for which funding has already been requested.
According to an overview on the website of the city of Grevesmühlen, the inclusive school campus in Ploggensering will combine several types of school and act as a central place of education. The planned institutions include a regional school with 530 students in the first construction phase, a primary school with 280 students in the second construction phase as well as the central building and a new construction of the mosaic school, which will record 100 students.
The spatial program is based on an intensive basic and needs determination and is intended to enable a joint use of the areas by all students. Specialists for theater, music, sports and art as well as therapy and retreat spaces should be centralized. In the central building, common areas such as auditorium/cafeteria and library are planned in the second construction phase. Outlashes such as school gardens and sports areas that will be accessible across school and barrier -free are also planned.
The architecture and the urban development of the campus support the overall educational concept and are intended to promote inclusive education. The regional school was drawn on February 19, 2024, the inauguration took place on February 23, 2024, as Grevesmüehlen.de reported.
