Memorial event in Neustadt: Memory of the Reichspogromnacht
A shocking chapter of history will be alive on November 7th at 5 p.m. in Neustadt when a wreath resignation commemorates the victims of the Reichspogromnacht from 1938. At the location of the former synagogue in Ludwigstrasse 20, the memorial stone in cooperation with the Democratic city of Neustadt is recognized with a solemn wreath. Kurt Werner, the chairman of the association of the Memorial for Nazi victims, as well as Constantin Beck-Burak, head of the education, culture and sport department, will be represented. The Jewish cultural community is represented by David Rosenberg, who will speak a moving prayer for all victims of this terrible night. The memorial event by Jeremiah Wood.
In the dark night from November 10th to 10th, 1938 there was also a devastating pogrom in Neustadt. Under the guise of the Nazi regime, fanatical members of the NSDAP stormed the synagogue, looted them, shallow the venerable building and set fire to fire. The horror did not stop here: an assault on an Israelite retirement home in today's Hauberallee led to the abuse of the residents who were forced to leave their home before this victim of the flames was too. Tragically, two residents lost their lives. Also throughout the city, Jewish people and their apartments and businesses were brutally attacked.

To commemorate the day of commemoration even more intensely, the Memorial Association for Nazi victims in Neustadt is planning further events. On November 10th at 5 p.m. there will be a lecture in the former synagogue Rülzheim entitled "Lebenslinien", held by the contemporary witnesses Peter Zank and Jacques Delfeld Jr. On November 11th at 6 p.m. Thorsten Hindrichs will present a revealing lecture on right-wing rock in Rhineland-Palatinate. And for all music lovers: On November 13th at 7 p.m. Sofia Falkovitch will perform in the Casimirianum Hebrew Psalms.
