The educational program "Vechte-Ranger"

The "Vechte-Ranger" program not only focuses on the river itself, but also addresses the flora and fauna and the effects of pollution. During the tour, the participants can explore nature with binoculars, landing nets and muglupes. "We take the Federal President on an exciting, interactive journey of discovery!" raves Dr. Chandler. "It is planned to bring our tasks closer to him as a species and nature conservation center and to show how much we work for sustainable development."

Nordhorn, which is known as a Wasserstadt, offers unique opportunities for such educational offers with its river. The zoo has recently set up a new record result: almost 1200 guided tours took place last year, in which a total of around 17,000 people, including almost 13,000 children, took part. This special educational program is one of the crucial efforts of the zoo to actively promote species and nature conservation.

dr. Kramer further explains that the meeting of education and nature conservation is essential for modern zoos. "Our work is becoming more and more important, because many species are threatened with extinction. We have to draw the company's attention to this problem and show solutions," he says in reprint.

The Nordhorn zoo is not just a leisure goal with almost half a million annual visitors. He is also a scientifically managed zoo that is dedicated to species protection and education with numerous projects. As a recognized educational center for sustainable development (BNE) and Archepark, which takes up regional history, the zoo plays an important role in the region.

The special responsibility is shown in the care of around 170 hectares of natural rooms worth protecting and the ecological station Grafschaft Bentheim/Emsland-Süd, which offers a childcare set of 40,000 hectares. These initiatives illustrate the comprehensive role of the zoo as an important center for species protection, education and research.
