An interesting aspect of the data is the level of education of the older population. 582,840 people, that is 31.8 %, achieved their highest school qualification at a polytechnic secondary school of the GDR. Another detail that emerges from the survey is the distribution of school qualifications among the different nationalities. 39.5 % of the population with foreign nationality gained technical college or high school. In comparison, the German population was only 23.3 %. Every third foreign citizen remained without school, while the German population is only 3.8 % without a degree.

claims about gender differences in the training biography are also proven by the data. While the German population has practically no gender differences in relation to school qualifications, the results of people with foreign nationality show that women are more successful: 44.2 % of women reach the technical college entrance qualification or the Abitur, while the value for men is 35.0 %. Furthermore, significantly more men (31.9 %) had no conclusion compared to women (26.6 %).
