Music for everyone: New scholarship promotes Flinta*talents!

Grafengut am Attersee, Österreich - On April 14, 2025, the organizations Matches Music and Generali Insurance initiated the scholarship "The now is female", which specifically supports young Flinta*people (women, lesbians, intellectual, non-binaries, trans and agenda) in the field of songwriting and music production. The scholarship includes free participation in the Matches Music Songwriting Camp, which will take place from May 27 to June 1, 2025 in the Grafengut am Attersee.

A total of 20 participants, including musicians, producers and songwriters, have the opportunity to take part in this unique camp. The prominent participants include Verena Haselböck, nominated for the Amadeus Awards, Lukas Oscar, winner of The Voice Kids, and Maximilian Walch, award winner of Amadeus Austria Music Award. This initiative was launched in order to promote visibility, equality and structural change in the music industry, a goal that Heidemarie Petschnig, representative of Generali Austria, is also underlined: "Music connects people and promotes talent."

The project manager Laura Haubenhofer emphasizes that the promotion of young music careers, especially Flinta*artists, is the focus of the scholarship. Anna Buchegger, musician and jury member, indicates the existing underrepresentation of Flinta*people in the music scene. Although the European music industry has many talented Flinta*musicians, they often fight with challenges such as gender-specific discrimination and lack of visibility.

A central aspect is the fact that Flinta*musicians often have less access to record contracts, airplay and financial support. According to Europavox.com , they often earn less than their male colleagues and are forced to pursue a different profession in order to secure their livelihood. This affects not only the career of these artists, but also the variety of music landscape as a whole.

In order to apply for the scholarship, interested Flinta*people between the ages of 18 and 35 have to submit a letter of motivation and two hearing examples. The application period runs until May 5, 2025. The selection is intended to ensure that creatively talented individuals are promoted in a supportive environment.
