Dispute over Helmut-Kohl-Allee: Citizens' initiative is fighting construction plans!
In Ludwigshafen it is boiling: The citizens' initiative "Life-worthy Ludwigshafen" mobilizes against the controversial construction of the new Helmut-Kohl-Allee. With over 1550 signatures, almost at the quorum of 1600, the residents demonstrate their displeasure with the planned ground -level replacement for Hochstraße Nord (B44), which is to be demolished. The BI leads several reasons for its resistance and continues to stop the project. Despite the public resistance, the preparations for the construction work are already in full swing, such as the Rheinpfalz reported.
Citizens' dialogue and planning in full swing
At the same time, the city of Ludwigshafen will not be idle: On Tuesday, December 17th, a community workshop will take place in the Ernst Bloch Center, in which three commissioned planning offices present their designs for the new city district on Helmut-Kohl-Allee. The event should give citizens the opportunity to exchange ideas with the planners, the jury and mayor Jutta Steinruck. This is part of a larger workshop procedure that has been running since September and has been supplemented by an intensive citizens' dialogue. In an online dialog, the concerns of the citizens were recorded in advance and the planning offices were sent to ensure that the ideas of the population are incorporated into the plans, as can be found on the official website of Ludwigshafen. The city administration thus shows engagement for the creative participation of the new Helmut-Kohl-Allee, while the citizens' initiative also draws attention to the risks of the project. The public pressure on the city remains high with every signature and voice of the citizens, and the debate about the best future -proof solution for the city center goes into the next round, while the official plans are progressing.
