Spreepark Berlin: Nostalgic amusement park celebrates grandiose return!

Spreepark, Plänterwald, Berlin, Deutschland - Great news from Berlin: The Spreepark in the Plänterwald, legendary from the time of the GDR, is to be reopened by spring 2027. The revival of the popular amusement park is a ray of hope in a year in which the Berlin Senate introduced drastic austerity measures in the 2025 budget. A total of three billion euros have to be saved, which primarily benefits from the areas of traffic, environment and culture, such as rbb24 reported.

Spreepark is being renovated with millions of times

The Spreepark, once a popular attraction with 1.5 million visitors annually, was closed in 2001 and has been fell into disrepair since then. However, with investments of a total of 126 million euros, of which around 36 million have already flowed and renovated, the park is becoming a new highlight of the city. The revival includes the renovation of iconic attractions such as the Ferris wheel and the English village. MP Alexander Freier-Winterwerb (SPD) was enthusiastic about the plans: "The future of the Spreepark is secured, this is a big message, especially for all Berliners from the eastern part", as with Berlin Live can be read.

At the same time, the Berlin Senate and the citizens face the challenge of reorganizing the financial means. The incisions not only affect public transport, the 29-euro ticket of which is to be canceled, but also the support of public projects and the cultural sector, where a total of 130 million euros have to be reduced. These drastic measures are a response to the missing reserves that have been needed since the Corona pandemic and the energy price shock to stabilize the budget situation, as also rbb24
