S7 Fürstenfeld expressway: opportunities for traffic and nature united!
Dobersdorf, Österreich - The completion of the S7 Fürstenfeld expressway marks a significant progress in the transport infrastructure of Austria. The west section, which has been used since March, has significantly improved the traffic situation in surrounding places. According to Alexander Walcher, Managing Director of ASFINAG Baumanagement GmbH, the traffic on the B319 has almost halved, with a decline of 18,000 vehicles to less than 10,000 a day. With a total length of 28 kilometers, 60 bridges and three tunnel systems, the S7 will not only optimize the connection to Hungary, but also strengthen the regional economy, as Infrastructure Council Mag. Heinrich Dorner emphasized.
comprehensive construction work and ecological commitment
The east section of the S7, which is still under construction and is to be completed by autumn 2025, is looked after by around 250 workers: inside and includes impressive technical solutions such as a 2.9 kilometer tunnel and innovative folding bridges. A central element of the project is also the ecological measures. Over 470 hectares of compensation areas were created, including a 14 hectare wetland, in which 194 bird species are currently breeding. These environmental protection measures were emphasized by Dorner as essential for the integration of the expressway into nature.
The total cost of the S7 amounts to around 850 million euros, with around 300 million euros being invested for the east section alone. This section will not only make the connection with the Hungarian M80 expressway easier, but will also create numerous new possibilities for the region, such as venison for the wildlife and the latest water protection systems that ensure the environment in and for construction. This combination of technical innovation and ecological concepts makes the S7 a prime example of modern infrastructure development, such as Regionws.at
The quick course of the project and the already noticeable relief in the affected areas are gratifying signs for the future traffic situation in the region. According to burgenland.orf.at , the S7 not only represents infrastructural progress, but also an environmentally conscious contribution to the sustainable development of the transport network.
