Revolution in the taxi system: Graz relies on innovative charging infrastructure!

In Graz, the pilot project was launched with innovative charging plates to equip taxi stands, but the construction is slowly progressing. So far, only two of the originally planned four loading plates have been installed on Schillerplatz. Peter Lackner from the Chamber of Commerce explained that problems such as district heating lines and roots in the earth disabled installation. Despite these hurdles, the project already shows positive developments: the demand for electric vehicles under taxis is growing rapidly, and the use of quick charging stations has proven to be more effective. Over 50% of taxis are currently hybrid or electric vehicles in Graz, which underlines the need for a nationwide charging technology. This pilot project will be extended until the first quarter of 2025 to gain further insights, while nine e-taxis are currently using the charging plates, reported Styria.orf.

inductive charging in Oslo - a future vision

At the international level, a groundbreaking project is bought in Oslo: the Fortum Energy supplier and the US company Momentum Dynamics are planning to introduce a wireless quick-charging system for taxis. By 2023, all taxis in the Norwegian capital are to be operated electrically. Loading plates are installed at central taxi stands, such as the main train station, which enable fast and comfortable charging with up to 75 kW. This technology aims to save taxi drivers the annoying search for loading facilities and at the same time act environmentally friendly by not being emitted while waiting. Annika Hoffner from Fortum Charge & Drive emphasizes that this is a modern solution for a contemporary problem, since taxis can simply be charged at your location while waiting for new passengers, as reported on electrive.net.
